I am Sandra Nakashima, and I thank you for coming to our site and looking around. If you have any questions or comments, please contact us. We have decided to include a little bit about ourselves so that you can get to know who the chocolatiers are. There are only the two of us at present, but we take our commitment to you and our products very seriously, and promise to always do our best to serve you. Our chocolates are made in our commercial (state inspected) Candy Kitchen located at 100 Ericson Court (Suite 115) in Arcata, California. All of our chocolates, fudge, and caramel are made by hand in small batches. Since we like our chocolate creations fresh, we make chocolate every day. Michael and I both love coming up with new chocolate creations, so please come back from time to time to see what we're up to.
About us: We moved to Arcata from Hawaii in 1986 when Michael was just six years old. I have worked in the food industry most of my life. Michael grew up in Arcata, and graduated from HSU in 2003 with a degree in Music Composition. Michael and I have been making chocolate professionally since September 1999. I was taught candy making by my mother and other relatives while I was growing up, but in the past few years, I have received professional training from very knowledgeable chocolatiers.
People sometimes ask where we got the name "Drakes Glen." They often wonder if it's a family name, and the answer is that its part of my name when I have time to play with my historical reenactment group. In the group, I'm known as Lady Alexia of Drakesglen. Michael is known as Lord Magnus Goldenrod of Allyshia. Right now, we have not had very much time to spend with our group (The Society for Creative Anachronism), but they're in our thoughts.

We have a tiny Kitchen in this wonderful building. The building was built by the city of Arcata, too help new food business have a place to start. It is now run by the College of the Redwoods and currently contains: eight food business spaces,one large community kitchen (rented by the hour) a college food Tech. kitchen, three college classes rooms, college bookstore and office. We also have a warehouse space, walk-in fridges and freezers. Wow, what a busy place!

This web site is dedicated to our loyal customers and chocolate lovers everywhere, and is designed to making it easier to find our gourmet chocolates. If you want to send chocolate out of the area, we can do that too. We have sent chocolates to customers as far away as New York and Florida.
Did you know that larger companies make their chocolates months ahead of time, and some of those chocolates have a indefinite shelf life? NOT OUR CHOCOLATE! Yes, most chocolates can last for months, but why would you want to eat old chocolate?
